The Canyon to Confluence Initiative is an effort to bring to life an integrated vision for how the community of Golden interacts with, protects, and celebrates its rivers.

It’s an initiative of the Golden Economic Development Society, but we want it to be led, championed, and shaped by you. Every citizen in the community is invited to be engaged by bringing their voice and vision to the project.

Our first step is public awareness and engagement so we can begin this journey towards a long-term plan. We invite you to Community River Day at Confluence Park to bring your voice to a community-generated vision for the future of the river and surrounding area. 

Come and speak with our team to learn more about the opportunity to invest in our community’s future by nurturing a relationship with the river ecosystem that protects and restores Golden’s natural assets while enhancing the social and economic liveability for all residents.

We have organized a few activities to encourage all ages to connect with the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers.

• Take part in a Scavenger Hunt through the ecosystems of Confluence park will provide a chance to explore and learn more about the natural environment of the Columbia River where it meets the Kicking Horse River.
• Confluence Park is the perfect place to draw inspiration from our rivers and get creative. Awaken your inner child, connect with the land and create a unique square with river mud and other natural materials at the Community River Quilt painting station.
• Bring your camera, take some photos and enter our Photo Contest for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a local Golden business of your choice. Details to come.
